Top 7 Tips from Chicago Beauty & Fashion Blogger

1. I’m always on the hunt for new beauty products, which is why I love to buy my makeup at Sephora and Ulta.

2. My favorite thing to wear right now? Adidas track pants. They’re comfortable, and I can dress them up with a cute sweater and booties.

3. If you’re looking for something more sophisticated, try a lace top with black jeans, ankle boots and a classic leather jacket!

4. I love trying out new restaurants around town- lately, I’ve been going to Pinello Bistro in Lincoln Square. The food is delicious, and they have a great wine selection, too!

5. Last but not least, if you are ever visiting Chicago, make sure to stop by Millennium Park- it’s gorgeous during the day but especially beautiful when it’s lit up at night.

My city guide to Chicago: Now that I’ve gotten all your attention and you’re interested in following me and checking out my work. Let’s review what sets Gold Coast Girl apart from other fashion blogs and what will keep you coming back for more.

First Steps on the Beach

If you’re reading this, you’re not from the Gold Coast. But don’t let that keep you away. The Gold Coast is waiting for your visit.

The Gold Coast girl is a guide to everything fashion and lifestyle on the North Shore of Chicago. From chic boutiques to hidden cafes, this blog will give you an inside look at all the best places in town to shop, eat and play! My goal is to inspire everyone, regardless of where they live or what kind of style they like.

So here’s my first post about some essentials for a successful day on the beach.

Sunscreen- because we can’t do anything without protecting our skin from those harmful UV rays! Pick up a good SPF and find out what suits your skin type- oil-free or water-based.

Skating at Millennium Park

I met with a friend, and we headed to Millennium Park for skating. It’s been so cold lately that the rink was closed, but it was still fun to hang out there and get some exercise. I’m not sure if it’s because of how recently we’ve had winter here in Chicago, but I felt like people weren’t quite as bundled up as they usually are when they go outside.

At one point, my nose started running, and I couldn’t find a tissue anywhere! The only thing I could do was take off my gloves and blow my nose on them. Gross? Maybe, but I wasn’t hacking over myself like I would have been if my nose got congested.

Malls Galore

The Gold Coast is a shopping destination unlike any other in the city. This neighborhood has something for everyone, from classic department stores like Macy’s and Nordstrom to trendsetting boutiques. Shopping isn’t the only reason to head to this area of town, though. The Gold Coast is home to some of the city’s best restaurants, bars and nightlife.

So lace up your shoes and explore! State Street – The Magnificent Mile State Street takes you from one end of downtown to the other with all types of shops, department stores, hotels and tourist attractions. You’ll find everything from discounted clothing and footwear at Nordstrom Rack or Brookstone (if you need to pick up an iPad on your way) to European fashion houses like Hugo Boss or Versace.

Dining in the Midwest

The Midwest has become a foodie’s paradise. From farm-to-table restaurants to some of the best pizzas in America, you’ll find it all here.

There are more James Beard Award winners from the Midwest than any other region in the country, so if you’re looking for a new place to dine, head west and explore your options! Pizza—Midwesterners eat more pizza per capita than any other state.

St Louis is home to Imo’s Pizza, famous for its Provel cheese. Milwaukee hosts Pizzeria Libretto, featured on Netflix’s hit series Chef’s Table. And then there’s Burt’s Place in Chicago, which was ranked one of the top 10 pizzerias in America by Eater magazine.

The Great Outdoors

Chicago, Illinois, is the third most populous city in the United States and the most populous city outside New York City and Los Angeles.

Approximately 2.7 million people live in Chicago, making it a great place to live. One thing that I love about this city is that there are many places to explore outdoors. If you’re looking for fresh air and a good workout, consider going on these three hikes!

Lakeside Fun!

The best way to beat the heat is by grabbing a delicious ice cream cone from Lucy’s Creamery and taking a walk along the shores of Lake Michigan. It may be summertime, but you’ll have fun no matter what time of year it is at these family-friendly destinations in the Chicagoland area!

Outdoor activities like biking, fishing and boating are available for those interested in exploring the great outdoors. And if you’re looking for an indoor activity that’s just as much fun as outdoor adventures, stop by one of the many museums or catch a show or movie at one of the city’s many theaters – there’s always something to do here!

Museums, Art Galleries and Entertainment

The Art Institute of Chicago is one of the best art museums in the world. It features a world-class collection of Impressionist and post-Impressionist paintings, prints, sculptures, drawings, photographs and decorative arts. The museum also houses many Greek, Roman and Egyptian antiquities.

Chicago is home to several other museums, including the Field Museum of Natural History with its extensive dinosaur displays; Shedd Aquarium with its impressive aquatic animal displays; Adler Planetarium; and John G. Shedd Boy’s and Girl’s Club, which are lovely for children. If you are looking for live theater, try the Lyric Opera of Chicago or Goodman Theatre, where Broadway hits have played before hitting the Great White Way.

Theatre also brings in some great musical talent, so be sure to check out shows by artists like Tony Bennett or Harry Connick Jr., who may be performing at either the Ravinia Festival (summer) or Old Town School of Folk Music (winter).
