The CMT (Country Music Television) Music Awards took place on Sunday, at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas.
The event, which was that was decided by the people the event was presented by Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown, who were each nominated this year and performed on the show.
Kane together with his wife Katelyn Brown, set a record by becoming the first husband and wife couple to be awarded the coveted video of year at the close of the night , for their song 2022 “Thank God,” also being the first time that both of them has been awarded in the same category.
Country singer and rapper Jelly Roll took home the big prize also on Sunday, winning three awards including male breakthrough videos of the year.
The show included the performances of Gwen Stefani, Carrie Underwood LeAnn Rimes Keith Urban and Alanis Morissette whom was the only performer to make her CMT debut in performances that honored the 10th anniversary of “CMT Next Women of Country.”
Country music legend Shania Twain received the 2023 “CMT Equal Play Award,” and Stevie Ray Vaughan and Lynyrd Skynyrd Skynyrd were recognized with tribute performances performed by a variety of artists.
Underwood is one of the CMT Awards all-time winner with 25 wins in total, but didn’t take home any awards on Sunday.
