Macbook Air 15 Review – The MacBook Air 15-inch M2 is an upgrade of the popular MacBook Air M2, which is literally. It has the same 15.3-inch display while retaining the level of portability that the MacBook promises with an Air name. Apple announced this laptop at the WWDC conference in 2023, the year following the announcement of the first M2 MacBook Air.

There are some similarities between the current 13-inch MacBook Air, our currently ranked most powerful MacBook, and the 15-inch model. However, the larger screen has many advantages beyond better multitasking. The device’s dimensions accommodate more powerful speakers and larger-capacity batteries.

But, with a price starting at $1,299 and up, the MacBook Air 15-inch pushes into the MacBook Pro price range, potentially blurring the lines between the two families of products.

We’ll be able to provide more precise shopping recommendations after we’ve completed a thorough MacBook Air 15-inch M2 review. Here are our first impressions from the inside and everything else you’ll need to know about this new MacBook Air laptop.

MacBook Air 15-inch M2 price and release date

The MacBook Air 15-inch M2 is priced at $1,299 and will be available on June 13th, 2023. Here’s a step-by-step guide to how to order this MacBook Air 15-inch if you’d like to become one of the first users.

For its basic configurations, MacBook Air 15-inch comes with a basic setup. MacBook Air 15-inch has 8GB RAM and 256GB storage with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU. It’s expandable to 2TB storage capacity and 24GB RAM. However, you’ll have to pay a much higher cost.

In the wake of the MacBook Air 15-inch launch, the initial pricing for the MacBook Air 13-inch has been reduced to $1,099. MacBook Air 13-inch model has been decreased to $1,099. Both models are available in four colors: Midnight, Starlight, Silver, and Space Gray.

MacBook Air 15-inch M2 design and display

The MacBook Air 15-inch M2 resembles its MacBook Air 13-inch’s larger brother. It’s built with the same design style introduced this year: a uniform, flat chassis with straight edges. It’s still a compact body, which is just 11 millimeters in thickness.

With a weight of 3.3 pounds, the MacBook Air is significantly heavier than the 2.7-pound 13-inch MacBook Air. Its portability is part of Apple’s MacBook Air brand, so it’s nice that Apple didn’t appear to compromise in bringing out a bigger screen size.

This display is 15.3 inches in diagonal, providing 25percent more display space than the 13-inch Air but the actual specs of the display aren’t much different, offering 500 nits of brightness and the same color spectrum of P3 that is available on display Liquid Retina screen.

Although the trackpad and keyboard aren’t much more significant, there’s an extra space at the edges of the device. In terms of ports and ports, the MacBook Air 15-inch M2 comes with MacBook Air 15″ M2 comes with a 3.5-millimeter headphone port, two Thunderbolt inputs, and a MagSafe charger port. Also, you’ll require a MacBook Pro for things like an SD card reader built-in.

MacBook Air 15-inch M2 key specifications and features

Powered by an Apple M2 chip, the latest MacBook Air claims to perform 12x faster than the Intel-powered MacBook Air. Apple has also said that the MacBook Air is twice faster than the 15-inch laptop computer with a Core Intel processor.

We’re not expecting significant differences in test results compared to the 13.3-inch MacBook Air, but we’ll have to test our tests as part of a complete review.

Our tests also assess how well the MacBook Air 15-inch M2’s multitasking capabilities are. In our test, we could open multiple app windows without overlapping them. Split-screen features seemed to stand out on this particular machine, too.

The bigger screen offered Apple more space inside the laptop to fit the 6-speaker audio system with Dolby atmos compatibility. We could hear a short demo, but it was difficult to determine if the sound delivered the promised 2x more powerful bass. We’ll need to consider this as we try out the.

MacBook Air 15-inch M2 battery life

Apple states they believe their MacBook Air 15-inch M2 has the same battery life of 18 hours as the MacBook Air 13-inch. Although that’s not necessarily a significant improvement, the larger battery provides a consistent power source despite having larger screen space.

As long as it is true that the MacBook Air’s 15-inch M2 battery performance is comparable to those with 13 inches, then it will be among the most efficient laptops in terms of battery longevity.

Based on our Tom’s Guide battery test, which is a continuous internet surfing at 150 nits screen brightness, the 13-inch Air averaged 14 hours and 6 mins, that’s excellent according to our standards.

All models that come with the MacBook Air 15-inch M2 are equipped with Apple’s 35W Dual Port adapter, which means you can charge your MacBook and another device simultaneously. This charger was only available on 13.2-inch MacBook Air models with higher specifications to give a comparison.

MacBook Air 15-inch M2 outlook

As a thirteen-inch MacBook Air user, it’s difficult for me not to envy the 15-inch version with admiration. With its portable appearance, the laptop is akin to an Air.

However, it comes with the promise of increased performance. The more prominent speakers and the absence of doubt about the built-in Dual Port Charger make for an impressive first impression as well.

Starting at $1,299, it’s a bit more expensive than the MacBook Air and creeps up in cost from the entry-level, affordable notebook (by Apple standards) the Air name has recently been associated with.

We’ll see if the new model, with its larger size, the MacBook Air, can stand out over its predecessor, the MacBook Pro.

You should consider buying the 13-inch MacBook Air if

You are looking for a less expensive option

The basic version of the MacBook Air, the 13.2-inch MacBook Air, is now $200 less expensive than its 15-inch MacBook Air while still providing the same features and features.

Both laptops use Apple’s M2 chip and feature similar specs. If you’ve been looking at a 13-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip and aren’t concerned about the smaller dimensions, this is the moment to make the purchase.

The 13-inch Air comes with the exact desirable specifications, like MagSafe chargers, seamless connection with other Apple devices, and the ability to use Spatial Audio. Be sure to avoid purchasing these laptops in the shade of Midnight. You’ll never get rid of fingerprints, trust me.

You’re looking for the smallest and most convenient MacBook

MacBook Air MacBook Air is an excellent alternative for students and people constantly in motion. The 13-inch Air weighs 2.7 kg, is tinier than the 15-inch Air, is lighter and less than the 15-inch Air (3.3 pounds), and is perfect for fitting into a backpack packed with books and bindings.

You Don’t require as much computing power

The 15-inch MacBook Air, on paper, is more powerful than the 13-inch Air; however, when you don’t play a lot or use video editing software, We’ve found the former to be superior. If you’re streaming YouTube and casually browsing the internet or taking FaceTime calls and responding to emails, the 13-inch Air is more than sufficient.

You Need a major (and larger) upgrade to your laptop

If you have a Macbook Air (or Pro) which is a few years old, you might find that the new 15-inch Air could be worth a leap. This is especially true if you’re willing to shell out an additional $200 for a larger display and better sound quality.

With improved graphics and more significant interaction with your different Apple devices, the MacBook Air running Apple’s M2 chip provides an efficient and fully integrated experience within the individual Apple network.

You want to get a big screen that’s relatively small and portable

If you think the 13-inch Air is too small, the two inches of the 2023 MacBook will make a difference. A 15-inch MacBook Air offers a larger display, but it stays faithful to the Air’s sleek, lightweight design, providing a stunningly delicate appearance for its size.

13-inch MacBook Air (M1) vs. 13-inch MacBook Air (M2) vs. 15-inch MacBook Air (M2)

The 15-inch MacBook Air is available at the price of $1,299. It’s an easy choice for those looking at this price and looking for the largest screen size.

However, the 13-inch M2 Air’s current cost of just $1,099 indicates it’s worth a look if you are looking for the conveniences of a high-definition webcam and MagSafe charging but don’t need the bigger screen or wish to shell out as much.

A 13-inch M1 MacBook Air from 2020 remains a great bargain at $999 for those requiring a device capable of handling everyday computing needs, notably since it’s usually reduced to $799.

Conclusion – Is Macbook Air 15 Really Worth It?

Macbook Air 15 Review - Is Macbook Air 15 Really Worth It?

The 15-inch MacBook Air price is higher than the 13-inch model; however, not much, with a cost of just $1,299 for the beginning. The 13-inches MacBook Air launched with a price of $1,199, but its price dropped to $1,099 after the release for the model with a 15-inch size. That makes the difference total $200 instead of only $100.

Although Apple did not use this opportunity to expand its port 15, the inch MacBook Air enlarges the macOS experience in nearly any other manner. It’s also very competitive prices against almost every other flagship Windows laptop, whether 15 inches or not.

The latest Apple MacBook Air 15-inch is available for pre-order and will go on sale on June 13th, on Tuesday. We anticipate having it in our lab for testing shortly, so keep an eye on our complete review.
